What is AyurVeda?
“Ayurvedic Medicine (also called Ayurveda) is one of the world’s oldest medical systems. It originated in India and has evolved there over thousands of years. In the United States, Ayurvedic medicine is considered a complementary health approach.”
Is AyurVeda effective?
“Ayurveda can have positive effects when used as a complementary therapy in combination with standard, conventional medical care.”
Ayurveda is preventive medicine
The science of Ayurveda describes six stages in the progression of health issues, of which only the 5th and 6th are recognized by modern medicine as “disease.” Ayurvedic procedures detect and prevent health problems from the early stages of their development.
Ayurveda identifies the early stages of health problems as “imbalances” in the natural equilibrium of the human body among the qualities (doshas) that are associated with movement (vata), heat (pitta), and structure (kapha). A skilled Ayurvedic physician (vaidya) can identify the type and location of these imbalances in their early stages by feeling the subtle qualities of the client’s pulse thereby assessing the level of balance in the physiology and making recommendations to prevent further manifestation of disease.
Clients receive a complete evaluation including analysis of your mind-body type, digestive style, and areas of imbalance, along with comprehensive and personalized recommendations based on the Maharishi Ayurveda health approach to help enliven the inner intelligence of the body and restore balance to the system.
Ayurvedic remedies to restore balance
Ayurvedic approaches to restoring balance address the influences on balance and imbalances in a person’s life, which include one’s diet and lifestyle and specific remedies such as herbal supplements and purification procedures. Maharishi Ayurveda is the consciousness-based approach to Ayurveda, which augments Ayurveda through the use of mind-body procedures such as yoga and meditation. The Maharishi Ayurveda health approach helps to enliven the body’s own inner intelligence and restore balance to the physiology.
